Actually Thai @ Sunway Pyramid

Entry: 13
31st October 2006

Dear Diary,

Darling and I visited Actually Thai Nudle House 2 weeks ago. We went there for a late lunch at around 4.30pm :p There weren't any other customers when we entered except for one table with a malay family ordering food for their 'buka puasa'. The place looked quite nice, however darling says it lacks thai ambience.

The beverage menu. Prices of beverages ranged from RM4 onwards. I ordered a hot glass of Green Tea (RM5) while darling chosed Iced Lemon Tea (RM5).

I liked this saying, 'Hospitality with a heart'. Sorry for the blurness of my camera :p

Our drinks: Iced Lemon Tea + Hot Green Tea :)

Darling ordered their Tom Yam Mee Hoon (RM 12.90) *Chef's recommendation*. The tomyam soup looked more like laksa as I think they've added in coconut milk. Darling said it's nice but not spicy enough and that the tomyam in Dusit Thai (Sunway Pyramid) is much better. I tried some too. Found it okay.

My Pineapple Fried Rice (RM 12.90). It came topped with cashew nuts, shredded chilli, and parsley leaves. There were prawns, diced carrots, raisins, and pineapples in the fried rice. Tasted pretty decent. It has my vote at 7.5/10. Our bill was supposed to come to RM41.17, but i managed to get a 50% discount on food (excluding drinks) with my student card :) So we only paid RM26.34 (including tax) *grins*

Blueberry Cheese Tart (RM1.80) for dessert! We bought this from Cake Sense which is a newly opened bakery in SS15 Subang Jaya. This bakery has the similar concept as Bread Story although it's much smaller. The cheese tart was average. I think King's Confectionary makes better ones.

Since darling had to go back to Bukit Jalil to pass something to his friend, we decided to go mamak-ing! And what other place better to mamak at than good old Steven's Corner. Hehe... We went to the branch in Cheras.

We ordered Sotong Goreng (RM6). I suddenly wanted to try this as darling said it's nice. It was a little cold when it came. Wasn't fresh out of the pan I guess. Hmmph... it was not too bad though. Would have been nicer if it was served hot.

This is our usual order. Roti Planta (RM1.90). Nice and crisp! But it was little too oily for me this time.

My all-time-favourite, Cheese Naan (RM4). I was totally satisfied as it was cooked to perfection. Very cheesy and not too oily nor dry. Perfect!

I was surprised when darling told me that Steven's Corner has its own website. Imagine that!! http://www.stevenscorner.com.my

Pizza Hut @ Jusco Seremban 2

Entry: 12
14th of October 2006

Dear Diary,

Darling took me to watch Rob-B-Hood today in TGV Seremban 2. I really liked the show and the cute little baby Matthew. He's so adorable. I wanted darling to kidnap the baby for me. Dunno why darling dowan... :p

After the movie, we went to Pizza Hut for dinner. We actually wanted to eat 'Cheesy Bites' but Pizza Hut is not serving that anymore... How sad. It was really one of Pizza Hut's bestest creations. Hope it would be back by demand. Just like the Sate Supreme pizza... lol... :D

Since they didn't have Cheesy Bites, we decided to order the Sate Supreme Combo 1 (recommended for 2 people) which costs RM32.50. This combo consists of 1 Regular Sate Supreme Pan Pizza, 4 pieces of Breadstix, 2 Soups-of-the-day, 1 Thai Tuna Roll, 1 Strawberry Napoleon, and 2 glasses of Iced Lemon Tea.

The menu :p We ordered the 1st combo.

Soups-of-the-day and Iced Lemon Tea drinks

Thai Tuna Roll. This roll had a taste of tom yam in it. Really nice :)

Our 4 pieces of breadstix with pamersan cheese.

Our regular size Sate Supreme Pan Pizza. This pizza consists of sate chunks, sate peanut sauce, cucumbers, chillis, onions, probably some garnishing and loads and loads of cheese. Too bad we forgot to order it with stuffed crust. Otherwise it would be cheesy inside out. Hehe...

I love cheese...... *muahahaha* Darling also rite?? Kekeke.....

This Strawberry Napoleon dessert actually came before our breadstix and pizza. Bad serving timing. Should have been served after our main course. Hmph... :(

Fortunately, it really tasted good and yummy. That totally covered its bad timing. Haha... :p Strawberry Napoleon is a crispy pastry filled with strawberry sauce and succulent raisins. It is served along with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream topped with yummy drizzles of chocolate. Serving portion is pretty decent for its price. Costs RM3.90 ala carte.

Our bill came to a total of RM 37.38 including tax and service charges.

Overall I enjoyed this meal although poor darling was sitting right under the air-cond and was freezing :p bad bad bad.... Sayang back... *muax* Thank you darling for the movie and pizza treat!! Wurve wurve u vely vely muchy much....

Cheers,

Bread Story & Secret Recipe @ Sunway Pyramid

Entry: 11
12th of September 2006

Dear Diary,

After having so much to eat yesterday at Starhill, I decided that I should eat something light today. Scared fat la... Haha :p I told darling that I wanted to go to Bread Story in Sunway Pyramid so he took me there after his class.

Our tray of goodies :) I chose the Spiderman bun (bun with sweet cream cheese filling, RM1.80) and the Stairway to Heaven (the long roll filled with mango custard and powdered sugar dusting on top, RM2.60). Darling chose the huge Flossy Big Label (bread with spicy chicken floss and crunchy sausage filling, RM3.50), his favourite XO Durian bun (bun with golden durian filling, RM2.60), and the Sausage Cheese Roll (sausage roll with melted cheese topping, RM1.80).

My bun of the day. Webed with chocolate streaks, icing sugar for the eyes and sweet cream cheese for its filling, this bun takes the image of Spiderman. Would be really perfect if there was more cream cheese in its filling :) I rate it 8/10.

Darling's bun of the day. His all time favourite XO Durian bun. This bun is filled with golden cooked durian and topped with dry grated coconut. A must try for durian lovers like my other half *winks* His rating of this bun is 9/10.

We stopped by Secret Recipe to try their new cake of the month - Caramel Cream Cheesecake (RM5.80 per slice). There isn't much about this cake to shout about. Tasted like any normal baked cream cheesecake except that it's topped with caramel and came with crunchy almonds in its base.

On the way to the car park, we passed by Dunkin' Donuts. It's been quite awhile since I last ate my favourite Chocolate Pudding Donut and I had been craving it for so long! Had been resisting for the fear of high calories and sugar contents... hmmm...

I finally gave in to temptation... My sweet sweet Chocolate Pudding Donut... This doughnut is filled with thick creamy chocolate (Sunway's outlet was a bit stingy with the chocolate filling though) and dusted with powdered icing sugar (RM1.90). Darling fell in love with it instantly! Haha..

We also passed by this Tropical Fruit Juice stall selling preserved fruits. This stall is located next to Dunkin' Donuts outlet and has a variety of preserved fruits for you to choose from at RM2.20 per 100gram.

Darling chose the Apple Mango fruit which is quite nice. I don't know how many grams we bought but it came to RM4.80. You do the maths k? I'm too lazy to count :p

Cheers,

Sushi King @ Low Yat Plaza

Entry: 10
12th of October 2006

Dear Diary,

Darling finally submitted his Final Year Project (FYP) yesterday (11th October). It was the day everyone has been waiting for. Including ME!! At last, no more busy busy darling. He is all mine now. Muahaha.... *grin*.

We decided to go to Bukit Bintang because darling wanted to get his power supply for his comp (which died-ED a month ago) and to get me my belated birthday gift *winky winks*. We reached Starhill around 4 plus after submitting darling's FYP. Since we hadn't had our lunch yet and were both starving, we went to Low Yat Plaza's Sushi King. Yummy.... I'm having such a fettish for sushi these days.

Anyway, Low Yat's Sushi King is just like all the other typical Sushi King outlets you can find anywhere. There were quite a few diners there when we went in. At 4 plus in the evening, I don't think our meal was counted as lunch nor dinner. Haha... This isn't the first time. Both darling and I have been having terrible eating-time disorders when we're back in Subang all along :p

Darling ordered the Salmon Steak set as salmon is his favourite fish. It looked really good when it came except that I thought the serving portion was a little bit small. The set included pan fried salmon in BBQ sauce with mixed vegetables, served with egg custard, miso soup, steamed rice and a small bottle of cultured milk drink (Yakult). All of these for RM19.90.

Salmon Steak upclose. I tried a little of the salmon. It tastes as good as it looks. I think it was because of the nice BBQ sauce :) Darling rated it 8/10. His only complaint was about the small fish portion.

I ordered the Kodomo Bento set as it looked quite attractive. My set included simmered flounder with frenchbeans, breaded fish, prawn and vegetable tempura, omelette, crabsticks, deep fried chicken nugget, green soybeens, mixed vegetable salad, served with steammed rice and a bottle of Yakult at the price of RM13.90. I liked my simmered flounder as it also came with nice sauce just like the salmon. I rate this set 7/10.

We actually had a few plates of sushi before our main course. It was only after almost finishing our last plate that I realised I had forgotten to take pictures so I quickly snaped a shot of whats left of the last plate. My apologies. I think I was too hungry already :p The above is a picture of our California Maki sushi (RM 4) which consists of crabstick, egg, cucumber, and fish roe. The other sushis we had were Tuna Mayo Maki sushi (RM 3), Chuka Kurage sushi - seasoned jellyfish sushi (RM4), and Smoked Salmon sushi (RM 5). The Chuka Kurage sushi is my favourite! It is really tasty and crunchy. I'm so hooked to it. Mmmm... Highly recommendable!

After finishing our Sushi King session, we crossed over to Sg. Wang Plaza cuz darling wanted to get me my belated birthday gift... and he did! He got me the pair of Levi's Jeans that I've wanted so much. Thank you baby. I love u very much... Muax!! :) After that, we went to Zang Toi's West 57th St. Street Cafe for our dessert. I've read many good reviews about this cafe's famous sinful Chocolate Banana Cake and I wanted to try it out for myself.

A slice of the sinful cake revealed. It came oozing with thick hot chocolatey sauce and bananas. We ordered it topped with ice-cream. (RM8.50 per slice / RM60 a loaf)

Moments of indulgence...... Perfect! What more could I ask for?

After Sg. Wang Plaza, we went to The Olden Ship in Cheras for drinks. I think it is a coffee house if I'm not mistaken. Darling ordered a jug of beer as it was really cheap there. RM23.90 per jug (Happy Hour rate from 3pm-9pm). No pictures taken... Haha...

We left the cafe nearing 11pm. I kept bugging darling to take me to Steven's Corner since we were very near that famous mamak. We've been here a couple of times and I was craving for their absolutely fabulous Cheese Naan.

Cheese Naan - consists of a hot and soft piece of naan coated with loads and loads of melted mozzarella cheese and butter (RM 4). The cheese is reported in Malaysian Today papers to 'melt in your mouth with every bite you take'. Truly wonderfuly heavenly!!

Cheese Naan upclose. Check out the buttery oil :p Steven's Corner really serves the best cheese naan around.

B.B.Q Plaza @ Sunway Pyramid

Entry: 9
6th of October 2006

Dear Diary,

I and darling decided to try out BBQ Plaza's newly opened outlet in Sunway Pyramid today. We've seen loads of advertisements on this place and were wondering if it was as good as it looks. I wanted to try this outlet badly after reading quite a lot of good reviews on it by some food bloggers. This is the restaurant with the huge green dino that greets you at the restaurant's entrance. The Sunway Pyramid outlet seems quite spacious and the interior is nice and well lighted :) I was shocked when I found out that BBQ Plaza actually originates from Thailand and is a fusion of both Mongolian and Korean table top cooking. Wow! All these while I had been thinking it was some Hong Kong restaurant because of the chinese words. Hmph....

Anyway, we each ordered the lunch express set (1 person) which is priced at RM9.90++. You are given a choice between the beef set or pork set. I had the pork set while darling chose the beef set (He's a beef lover) :p As you can see in the picture above, the set comes with a bowl of garlic rice, their special BBQ sauce (which is imported weekly from Thai), 2 plates of meet and vege (darling's set had beef, chicken, and sotong), and a drink (I and darling both chose coke). Looks really good! I couldn't wait to start cooking! *grin*

A picture of my yummy garlic rice and special BBQ sauce upclose. They have an option of white rice available too. I love the BBQ sauce so much! Would be nicer if it were a bit spicier. The waiter told us that we had to mix in the chillies, lime and garlic given to bring out the flavor of the sauce. Darling finished his whole bowl of sauce and started digging into mine. That's how good it was.

The pork lard is firstly placed on to the top of the hotplate and left to sizzle its fats out. Haha.... It is to grease the hotplate for cooking the meats....

The first slice of pork meat placed on the hotplate :) That's mine mine mine!!! Notice the water boiling at the side of the grill? Its for our vege and udon noodles (our set lunch did not include udon noodles.. sad!) The vege tasted nice and sweet after being boiled in the chicken stock soup.

Darling holding up a strip of chicken meat. Hehe... :p

Sizzle sizzle sizzle... Yummm.... Waiting for our food to cook...

Darling's such a pro when it comes to things like these... Maybe I don't have to worry about cooking next time *winks* :p

Our bill total came to RM22.80 including tax. Sorry for the blur shot. Couldn't get a steady snap :(

Two satisfied BBQ-ers :) I thought that it was a pretty fun experience. The service was good as the waiters were attentive and helpful. Oh by the way, you don't have to worry about smelling like BBQ meat after ur meal here because they have a good ventilation system. Darling and me were practically sniffing each other when we got out to see if this was true. Yeapz... no worries people! My rating of this restaurant is 8.5/10. Darling rates it at 7/10. Thumbs up to BBQ plaza. We'll definately be back for more :)
