Dinner @ Asia Cafe

Entry: 88
5th May 2007

Dear Diary,

Darling and I had dinner one of the nights in Asia Cafe SS15 Subang Jaya. Although being only a stone's throw away from the place we stay, we're starting to frequent this place less. Haha, I guess there are just many other options besides coming back to the same place over and over again. Darling had to rush off to work again that night, so we opt for something quick.

I ordered a plate of Dry Pan Mee which costs RM4.00 from the Pan Mee stall. Well, I wouldnt say the pan mee here is that fantastic, but then it tastes much better than the pan mee in coll. And more expensive too. The one in college only costs RM2.80 per bowl. No kidding. Lol!! :p

Darling wanted to try the Nyonya Mee Goreng which he saw many people eating. He meant to order a large plate but then the server brought him a small one. And its a good thing too cuz this mee goreng tasted weird and turned darling's face upside down. Its probably because we hardly eat nyonya food and well, this mee goreng came mixed with all sorts of things that we didnt know could be added into the noodles. Lets just say this is not the typical mee goreng one can get at any ordinary mamak stall :p

Lunch @ Asia Cafe

Entry: 82
19th April 2007

Dear Diary,

I kinda demanded darling to accompany me for lunch today during my class break. Lol. And darling was in no position to decline so he rushed back from Jalan Gasing where he went to settle his KWSP stuff. Since I had to go back for classes later, we decided to have lunch in Asia Cafe.

I was craving so many things that day. Here is the Sarawak Kolo Mee that I've been wanting to try for a long long time. Priced at RM4.00 per plate, this mee comes with minced meat, sliced fish cakes, sliced char siew meat, vege, and a piece of fried wonton. It kind of resembled hakka mee and gosh, do I miss that a lot!! Wonder when will darling bring me to eat that in Alison again??? Hmm... anyway, the kolo mee here was not good at all. It was practically too dry and tasteless for my liking. Even the fried wonton was just a piece of unstuffed wonton skin. Argh, I dont like that. It tasted to empty :( Not gonna order this anymore. Its just not worth my 4 bucks.

I also bought this Nyonya Nasi Lemak (RM1.50) from the little stall in Asia Cafe selling an assortment of nyonya kuihs and cakes. Small as it is, this nasi lemak is definitely a winner among all the foods there. The sambal was totally awesome and spicy. Just the way I like it. Oh, I had their Curry Puff (RM1.00) too which was fantastic and quite similar to the ones they have in IKEA. I simply love Ikea's curry puffs. Wonder if Old Chang Kee's one in 1 Utama tastes nicer.

Darling tried this Ramyean (RM5.00) or also known as Korean Noodles from the Korean stall. We suspect that this noodles came from one of those packeted ones you can get in the supermarket for only RM2.99. Haha... Well, it tasted very similar. The only additional stuff u get here is the kim-chi which none of us liked :p

Finally.... Our dessert for today. We had Asia Cafe's ABC (RM3.80). This was the second time we'r having it and we found that it wasnt as nice as the first time as it was a little diluted. Anyway, it was still good and refreshing on such a hot day. Both darling and I agreed that their shaved peach ice tastes much much better and sweeter than their ABC. Cant wait to have that again. Its so yummy :)

Chicken Rice @ Asia Cafe SS15 Subang Jaya

Entry: 73
16th March 2007

Dear Diary,

It has been awhile since we last were at Asia Cafe. Actually it's more like trying to avoid it as we've had too much of Asia Cafe food for a period of time :p So we came here for dinner after darling's morning shift. After taking some time to decide and countless of "What do you want to eat" questions from darling, I finally asked darling to order me a plate of Chicken & Char Siew Rice. I cant remember the last time I had chicken rice. Must have been ages ago :p Anyway darling, who was also at wits ends on deciding his order, also decided to have chicken rice as well.

I had Char Siew and Chicken Rice which is priced at RM4.00. There's nothing really special about the chicken rice here. Everything was just normal and the char siew was a tad more burnt than it usually is. The Char Siew sauce that came along with my char siew meat was also a wee bit too sweet. Other than that, no other complaints :p

Darling ordered Chicken Rice which is priced at RM3.50 per plate. Darling prefers to only eat chicken breasts and that's what he got. Haha...

The threesome that came along with our char siew meat and chicken.

Cheers,

Dinner @ Asia Cafe

Entry: 54
7th February 2007

Dear Diary,

We had dinner at Asia Cafe in SS15 Subang Jaya again yesterday night. Yeah, again :p Lol!! Well, at almost 11pm at night, there aren't really many places around here that is still opened. To many, Asia Cafe seems to be a food heaven. But to me, I guess I'm starting to run out of choices on what to eat especially when I start ordering the same food over and over again :p

Last night I decided to try out the newly opened Japanese stall 'Heng Teppanyaki'. They also have another stall called 'Heng Sushi'. There were many attractive pictures of food here which caught my attention. I chosed to try their Garlic Fried Rice with salad and a bowl of soup for RM4.50. To my disappointment, their fried rice was not up to my expectation. If it wasn't for the fried garlic that came along with the rice, I wouldnt have been able to carry on eating. The salad which consisted of grated cucumbers and crab meat tasted a little weird too. And they only had a few little cubes of tofu in the soup. Sigh, should have ordered ikan bakar instead.

Hmm, it just isnt fair that anything darling orders turns out to be good or at least pretty decent. He had his usual plate of Char Kuey Teow from the Penang Kuey Teow stall which is priced at RM4.00 for a big plate. His kuey teow was fine alrite, but then he said my fried rice wasnt half as bad as the fried rice we ordered from the fried rice stall long ago which really really sucked. Well, he ended up helping me to finish it while I had some of his kuey teow and a bar of Snickers to cure my gloomy mood :)

Dinner @ Asia Cafe & Dessert from Cake Sense

Entry: 51
30th January 2007

Dear Diary,

We had dinner at Asia Cafe again. Haha, the both of us have seriously been frequenting this place alot for dinner as darling gets back from work after 10pm and it is either dining here, or the mamaks which are still opened.

This time I wanted to try the Pan Mee (RM4.50) from the Pan Mee stall. The serving size was just right for me. I ordered the one with fishballs and it came with sliced mushrooms and fish cakes as well. Yummy... I'll definitely order this again :)

Darling ordered Lemongrass Pork Chop with rice (RM6.90) from the Lemongrass (Vietnamese) stall. The rice portion was huge as darling ordered additional rice. The pork chop looked nice and evenly roasted this time. Looks very appetizing :) No complaints from darling.

After dinner, we had cakes for dessert from Cake Sense bakery nearby which I had bought back earlier.

On the left, we have Strawberry Yoghurt Mousse Slice (RM4.70) and on the right, we have Mango Yoghurt Mousse Slice (RM4.70). The cakes were very light and nicely presented but would taste nicer if it were sweeter :)

Vietnamese Food @ Asia Cafe

Entry: 47
23rd January 2007

Dear Diary,

It's dinner again at Asia Cafe in SS15 Subang Jaya. Haha, we've been eating quite frequently here nowadays. This time, we both had vietnamese food from the Lemongrass stall.

The 'Teh Hijau' (RM1.80) that I ordered. Keke... Darling didn't like the taste of this drink. Haha... :p

I had their Lemongrass Chicken Chop (RM5.90). The portion size was quite big for me. But I really enjoyed the fried chicken drumstick marinated with lemongrass sauce. It also came with coleslaw, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. Lovely... :)

Darling tried the new addtion to their menu, Vietnamese Beef Noodles (RM6.90). Well, all I can say is that darling had loads to complain about this. He didn't like the taste of the soup which came with lots of lemongrass bits. Haha... But yet due to his strict policy of not wasting food, he ate all the noodles up. Two thumbs up for my lou gong zhai. Muax! :)

Seafood night @ Asia Cafe

19th January 2007

Dear Diary,

It was yet another night of cravings for fried lala :p This time, darling and I decided to have ikan bakar as well since the last time we had that was ages ago. And where else better to get these foods than our good old Asia Cafe :)

Darling ordered 2 Spicy Grilled Chicken Fish (RM13) or just simply known as Ikan Bakar from the Grilled Fish stall. Actually, darling only ordered 1 fish. But then their promotion was 'Buy 1, Free 1". And there was 2. Keke... :) We also ordered 2 plates of white rice (RM1 each) to eat along with our fish.It was good! Perfecto :)

Not forget our dear Fried Lala. Haha... :p This time darling ordered only 7 dollars worth of it. I still find the kam heong sauce as appetizing as ever. Yummilicious! We both enjoyed this meal very very much.

Dinner @ Suria KLCC Signatures Food Court

Entry: 44
18th January 2007

Dear Diary,

I went on a shopping spree with darling and my dear cousin sister today. We met up in Suria KLCC after her class. Omg, I still can't believe my little couzie is already in college. Haha.. It seemed so yesterday that she was only in form 3. Sigh, time flies by so fast. Anyway, I didn't manage to buy anything much due to the old stock clearance but I did spend on facial products though. Keke... :p

It was really hard deciding on what to eat for dinner. When I asked my cousin to decide, she said dunno. Ask darling to decide, he oso said dunno. Ask myself what I want to eat, I oso dunno. We even took the directory brochure to decide. Haha.. We finally gave up thinking and headed straight to KLCC's Signatures Food Court to eat as they had more choices there.

Darling had McDonald's Prosperity Meal which is priced at RM8.91 including tax. This meal included one beef prosperity burger, twister fries and an orange McFizz drink. The burger was quite nice. Darling seemed satisfied with his food.

I was totally famished and ordered Chicken and Cheese Lasagna Pie (RM7.99) from Cafe Milano. The serving size was average but then it came with thick cream so I felt bloted after eating half of it. Darling had to help me finish it in exchange for his twister fries. Hehe..

Didnt manage to get a picture of what my cousin ate cuz she was already eating when I brought my food to the table. Haha.. She had Cabonara from Pizza Milano which I think is under the same management as Cafe Milano.

A tiring but happy day out! :)

Cheers,

Lala night @ Asia Cafe

Entry: 43
16th January 2007

Dear Diary,

Darling was somewhat craving to eat fried lala that night. So we headed to our neighbouring food court, Asia Cafe in SS15, to get some there for dinner.

Darling ordered RM10 dollars worth of Lala cooked in Kam Heong style from the Fried Lala stall. The sauce was pretty good and appetizing! He also ordered Char Kuey Teow but the picture is a bit too dark to be posted here as we sat in quite a dark area :p

I wanted to eat something light so I ordered Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fun (RM3) from the dim sum stall. The chee cheong fun was okay but definately not as nice as those you get from dim sum restaurants.

For dessert, I bought darling Durian Pancakes (RM4.90) from the little dessert stall in Asia Cafe. He only ate it the next day and commented that it tasted better than the previous time we tried it. This dessert is made out of durian flesh wrapped in whiped cream and thin pancakes. Truly delicious :) If u'r not a fan of durians, like me, there are other flavours available too such as Mango and Strawberry at the price of RM3.90. Yummy....

Asia Cafe @ Subang Jaya SS15

Entry: 34
2nd January 2007

Dear Diary,

Darling and I had dinner at Asia Cafe on the 20th of December. Asia Cafe needs no further introduction as it is famous and popularly known especially among college students in the SS15 area of Subang Jaya. It didnt take long for darling to decide what he wanted to eat. But as for me, sigh, it's normally an ordeal having to chose between a variety of choices. Bear with me people, I get really mixed up when I'm surrounded by glorious food :p

Darling ordered a large plate of Char Kuey Teow priced at RM4.00 from the Penang Fried Kuey Teow stall. Judging from the previous number of times darling has ordered this, I guess it can be considered good but then it might still not be the best around :p

I was craving something spicy that night. Hence, I decided to order Spicy Pork Noodles from the Pork Noodle stall which is priced at RM4.50 for a large bowl. Darling actually ordered a small bowl for me, but I have no idea why they brought me a large one. The level of spiciness was a tad disappointing for me as I anticipated something spicier than what I was served. However, I am happy with the amount of minced pork they put in it. Fairly good.

We'll be back at Asia Cafe for more foodies very soon :)

Cheers,

Asia Cafe Dinner @ Subang Jaya SS15

Entry: 31
13th December 2006

Dear Diary,

It has been ages ago since we last ate at our neighbouring hawker food court which is none other than Asia Cafe in SS15 Subang Jaya. After so long, we finally had dinner there one of the nights last week. Unlike my previous post, I wasn't that hungry that night and was very uncertain on what I wanted to eat. Sigh...

Anyway, darling had already spotted what he wanted to eat on the way in. So it was no problem for him to order. He had the Taiwan Fried Chicken Set (RM6.90) at Uncle Bob's Fried Chicken outlet located next to the beef noodle stall. I love this fried chicken. I always have it everytime I go to a pasar malam because you can always find one of Uncle Bob's stalls there. Hehe...

After taking so long to decide, I finally settled for my favourite food from the Spring Chicken outlet which is the Sausage with ham & cheese set (RM4.50). Where is the sausage you may ask? It's in the bread together with the ham and melted cheddar cheese. Haha! My set came along with shoestring fries. It normally tastes very cheesy and good everytime I have it. However it didnt really taste nice that particular night. Maybe its because I wasnt very hungry at that time. I couldnt even finish the sausage. Darling had to help me out *grin*

Oh, thanx to darling's new Nokia N80, my foodie pictures are now bigger, better and clearer with his 3.2 megapixel camera *winks*

Cheers,

Pizza Milano @ Signatures Food Court @ Suria KLCC

Entry: 29
13th December 2006

Dear Diary,

After work last Tuesday, darling and I decided to have dinner in KLCC itself. We were wondering what to eat when darling suddenly suggested that we try out the pasta in Pizza Milano's outlet at KLCC's Signatures Food Court. We had both previously seen a lot of people queuing and eating from this outlet and darn, the food there looked so good!

I tried their Spaghetti Bolognese which is priced at RM6.99 per serving. I loved the way they cooked the bolognese sauce. Not too sour but yet a little cheesy. I they also added in cream on top of the sauce which was an excellent combination. Thumbs up for my pasta :)

Darling chosed to try their Fettuccine Cabonara (RM7.99) which is fettuccine pasta cooked in cream and served with ham and button mushrooms. Darling said it was quite good but that Dave's Deli's cabonara tasted richer. I tried some and found the cream to taste exactly like the one that came with my bolognese sauce. Nice... but then, darling said that the portion wasn't enough for him :( Hope to try more of their pastas later on :)

Cheers,
